Dr Sam Tochtrop
Dr. Sam Tochtrop was born and raised in Washington, Missouri, just an hour outside of St. Louis. His education gradually took him westward across the state, completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri - Columbia, and then his medical degree at Kansas City University. He returned to the St. Louis area to start his residency. He is currently a Primary Care Internal Medicine resident at Washington University - Barnes Jewish Hospital, and is set to finish the program in June of 2022.
Dr. Tochtrop's experience at Southampton Healthcare began when he was a 3rd year medical student on his clinical rotations. His time there is what inspired him to pursue primary care medicine, and ignited a passion for LGBTQ and HIV care. When he started his residency, he requested Southampton for his continuity clinic, and was thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working there.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Tochtrop is best known for his special needs cat, Scooter. They've been an inseparable duo for several years, as documented on the instagram account @scoot.butt. When he and Scooter aren't causing trouble together, Dr. Tochtrop spends his time wood working/carving, crocheting, going bowling, and spending time with his nephew.
